What is a Digital Battery Passport?
A Digital Battery Passport is a digital record that links a physical battery to verified information about its origin, materials, carbon footprint, performance, condition, and end-of-life options.
From 18 February 2027, battery passports will become mandatory in the EU for electric vehicle batteries, light means of transport batteries, and industrial batteries above 2 kWh. The passport is designed to improve transparency, support regulatory compliance, and enable better decisions across the battery lifecycle.
